Our Best-Selling Brush Cutter
For many customers, the 14.5 HP PRO model hits the sweet spot with the right balance of power and maneuverability. This model's extra power over our 12.5 HP Premier Model is extremely effective in heavy growth such as tall or wet grass, brambles, vines, and dense thickets of small saplings. It will cut saplings up to 2-1/2" thick, grass up to 4' high and weeds and brush up to 8' tall. A full pressure oil pump makes it a great choice for mowing on up-to-20 degree slopes. Pivoting deck hugs the ground, minimizing scalping and improving traction by keeping the machine weight over the drive wheels.

Field and Brush Mowers in Action
High quality components built for decades of punishing use
Our mowers are tough from the inside out – thanks to a heavy-duty, laser cut steel frame that will withstand decades of stress and strain. Our machine is unlike any other on the market, a true work of American ingenuity and craftsmanship that's a pride to own and a joy to use.
High performance engine for outstanding power
When you're mowing tough weeds, tall grass and dense brush, you need all the power you can get. That's why we've equipped this model with a 14.5 HP Electric-Start engine, for extra power in difficult conditions such as tall, wet grass, plus the ability to tackle thicker saplings—up to 2 1/2" thick.
Pivoting deck hugs the ground for a better cut
Unlike those cheap brush cutters, the DR's brush deck pivots from side to side, following the contours of the ground. This minimizes scalping and improves traction on uneven terrain by keeping the weight of the machine on its drive wheels.
Lockable Differential lets you take charge in tough areas
Lock the differential for maximum traction and control on uneven terrain, in ditches, muddy conditions, and on moderate slopes. Or, unlock the differential so the wheels can turn at different speeds for ease of turning and handling, and precise maneuvering around obstacles.
Design Features
Gear-driven transmission means you'll always be in the right gear
Unlike hydrostatic drives, the DR's geared transmission gives you the full speed control essential to rough-terrain mowing. With a choice of 4 forward gears, you can lock in a steady ground speed that suits your walking speed and the material you're cutting, while your hands stay free to guide the machine across uneven terrain.
Quick-change attachments add 4-season versatility
The DR has the power and the capability to help you take charge of your property, in any season. Thanks to a unique coupling system, in just minutes, the DR Field and Brush Mower converts to a powerful lawn mower, snow thrower, chipper, or grader. It's like owning 5 machines in one!
Other Features

Good Machine
When you have a quality machine you'd think that you could also put a quality battery in it. Very frustrating to have it not last the first summer and what an awkward thing to get out. Little things can sour a person quick.

Must Have!
We have 40 acres of hardwood forest with tall grass and fiddler ferns. My wife and I were able to clear several walking trails thru some very heavy under brush. Anyone who wishes to clean up their property, this machine is a "must have". We own a 35 hp 4 wheel drive tractor with a 3 pt brush hog, good for field clearing, but it can not get into areas this DR self propelled walk behind does. The only downside is the protective cover. It was sent to us and the quality was less than expected from DR. They did replace it, but the cover is not designed for covering a unit with the light accessory attached. Other than that issue, this machine (14.5 hp Model) is a "Hoss" Thank you DR.

Very Powerful
My DR Field & Brush Mower with 17 Horsepower Kawasaki engine is very
powerful and versatile, and enables me to clear areas without having a full
size tractor and brushhog. My first one was the 8 Horsepower original model
which was very capable, but not nearly as powerful. I enjoyed them both.

DR Field Mower & snowblower attachment are my favorite tools
I purchased my 2nd DR Field mower in the spring of 2010 to help maintain a field that I spent much time and energy to clear the previous year. I'm a single woman, about 5 fto 5 inches tall and around 140 lbs. I am strong but not much more than the average person who does lots of walking and lawn work. I would encourage more women to purchase DR equipment because it easy to use and very safe.
I am so pleased with how well the mower takes care of my 1.5 acre field- it helps keep the weeds and trees at bay and now after mowing for 2 years- people comment on how beautiful the field is. A year after I bought the field mower, I bought a snow blower attachment which I have used for 2 years. I love these pieces of equipment and they help me keep my house and yard looking great.
I also can switch the snow blower attachment and the field mower attachment myself. The DR user manuals make it easy to take care of the equipment too, and I never thought of myself as being very handy--not anymore

My DR2 is rugged!
My DR2 brush & field mower has served me faithfully during my six year ownership while clearing my 3+ acre " jungle". Briars, brambles, weeds, saplings, underbrush & small pines trees were no problem for my machine. Even when working on damp/wet ground , it kept on performing well. The engine performed flawlessly and I like the full pressure oiling & the oil filter for long engine life. The three year warranty was helpful when needed. The power unit is also very handy to power my DR2 generator during hurricane power outages. Thanks for a great American product.
